How it works
Prerequisites
- Codie does not have summoning sickness. You have at least two opponents.
- Opponents have lost at least 3 life this turn plus an additional 2 life for each time you've cast Codie from the command zone this game, minus 1 life for each opponent you have beyond the second.
Steps
- 1Cast First Day of Class by paying .
- 2Activate Codie by paying and tapping it, adding .
- 3Activate Lampad of Death's Vigil by paying and sacrificing Codie.
- 4Choose to return Codie to the command zone from your graveyard.
- 5Resolve the Lampad of Death's Vigil trigger, causing each opponent to lose 1 life and you to gain 1 life.
- 6Cast Codie from the command zone by paying due to Rakdos.
- 7First Day of Class triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Codie and giving it haste.
- 8Repeat from step 2.
- 9NOTE: This combo ends once you have one opponent remaining, as the lifeloss from Lampad of Death's Vigil no longer covers Codie's increased commander tax.
- 10However, you may be able to get more iterations if you started the combo with three or more opponents, as Rakdos will decrease Codie's cost by , outpacing the from commander tax, until you have two or less opponents.
- 11Once you have a large number of Codie triggers, you may cast any instant or sorcery by paying its mana cost.
- 12Codie triggers for each time you activated its ability.
- 13Resolve the first trigger, causing you to exile cards from the top of your library until you exile an instant or sorcery spell with lesser mana value, and allowing you to cast that spell without paying its mana cost.
- 14Repeat step 13 for each remaining trigger.
