Steps

1. 1Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Butcher Ghoul
2. 2When Butcher Ghoul dies, its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
3. 3Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
4. 4Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Butcher Ghoul
5. 5When Butcher Ghoul dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
6. 6Butcher Ghoul enters and dies as a state-based action due to having 0 toughness. Its undying ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
7. 7Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability from step 4.
8. 8Repeat from step 4.
